Justine Cotter is an award-winning creative director and humor writer currently based in New York, originally from Kansas City. Kansas or Missouri, you ask? Great question! Your knowledge of Midwest geography is impressive! The correct answer is both! She was born in Missouri and raised right across the state line in Kansas.
In her more than 10 years of advertising experience, she has turned a beloved animated holiday classic into a school musical for Macy’s, served up the hands-free Google Pixel 4 in a pizza box, helped kids navigate their way to LEGOLAND with the first GPS for kids, created a music video for Lonzo Ball and his entire family, and worked with HeadCount and survivors from Parkland to get out the vote ahead of the 2018 Midterm Elections. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Billboard, Complex, and Fast Company, among others.
Her humor writing has appeared in McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, The Belladonna Comedy, Weekly Humorist, Little Old Lady Comedy, and others.
She has studied comedy writing and improv at the Second City, journalism at the University of Kansas, advertising at the VCU Brandcenter, and thanks to a recent obsession with The Great British Baking Show, the art of watching people bake bread sculptures from her couch in Manhattan.
